The My Virtual SLP Stuttering Therapy Program offers evidence-based stuttering treatment designed to enhance speech fluency, naturalness, and confidence for adults across British Columbia. This virtual program is a new provider of services funded by the Fred Gingell Grant and is facilitated by a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

Program Overview

Therapy Approach

  • Uses the Camperdown Program – a gold-standard stuttering treatment.

  • Incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to manage speech anxiety.

  • Virtual delivery – as effective as in-person therapy.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the Fred Gingell Grant, applicants must:

  • Be 19 years of age or older and a resident of British Columbia.

  • Have not previously received Fred Gingell funding.

  • Be among the first 8 applicants each fiscal year (April 1 – March 31). Advance applications welcome.

Program Details:

  • Cost: Fully funded by the grant; clinic direct bills to Vancouver Coastal Health.

  • Structure: Three phases – Learning, Training, Generalization

  • Duration: 20 individual sessions over 8 weeks. Includes a pre- and post-assessment.

  • Maintenance: Monthly follow up available for 3 months after completion.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Sessions arranged to fit your availability.

  • Home Practice: Guided exercises between sessions.
